The New Weegies is an essay I wrote for Berthold Schoene's excellent 2007 book: "The Edinburgh Companion to Contemporary Scottish Literature." In it, I contextualise the work of four recent Glasgow writers, Anne Donovan, Alison Miller, Suhayl Saadi and Louise Welsh. I'm being a literary critic here, but this predates a Guardian blog I did later that year on the perfidy of literary critics. I've yet to work through this contradiction, but you'll be the first to know when I do. Schoene's book also contains a great essay by Kirstin Innes, looking at The Incredible Adam Spark.
